Composite Bow
Skill: Small Ranged+1d10
Damage: 3d10
Range: 100ft/200ft/300ft

Though the Composite Bow has slightly-below-average damage output, it does give a nice set 3d10, which opens up some opportunities for Skill allotment since unlike most weapons you don't need to invest any points in your weapon damage. With an accuracy boost to boot, it gets a solid pass from me. My only gripe is that ranged in general tends to be weak in Ogre Gate because most kung fu users can close distances fairly easily, meaning you very quickly become far less effective. Minor spoilers; I've chosen NOT to address that here because I believe that will be a good way to give the inferior-in-all-respects Short Bow a reason to exist. So for now just take it as a warning.

Also, they got you on the below average listed damage again, because at Qi 2 Slicing Arrow does 6d10.

I've chosen to present the techniques in level order rather than alphabetically so you get a sense for how skill with the weapon progresses. Without further ado:

Bounding Arrow
Discipline: Neigong
Skill: Small Ranged against Evade
Type: Normal
Qi: 1

You imbue an arrow with Qi energy, allowing it to rebound off corners.

Roll Small Ranged against the Evade of one target you could hit with a ricochet but not a direct shot. On a Success do normal damage. On a Total Success you are able to put some uncertainty in the bounce, imposing -1d10 to counter this technique due to the difficult-to-predict flight path.

If you aren’t certain of someone’s location, you may need to make a Detect roll to target him.

Cathartic: Cathartically the arrow slices through and continues to ricochet, hitting 1 additional target per Rank of Neigong.

Breathless Arrow
Discipline: Waijia
Skill: Endurance TN Special, then Small Ranged against Evade
Type: Normal
Qi: 2

You exhale all your breath, taking in no more until the arrow soars from your composite bow. This technique can only be used Cathartically.

Cathartic: Select TN 1, 5, 9, or 10, then make an Endurance roll against it. On a Success, make a Small Ranged attack against one target’s Evade with +1, 2, 3, or 4d10 to hit depending on your chosen TN. On a hit you do +1, 2, 3, or 4d10 damage depending on your chosen TN.

On an Endurance Failure you lose 1, 2, 3, or 4 Hardiness depending on your chosen TN. It comes back at the start of your next turn.

Onyx Backflip
Discipline: Qinggong
Skill: Athletics against Attack Roll, then Small Ranged against Evade
Type: Counter
Qi: 3

You backflip away from a melee attacker, attempting to punish them with your composite bow.

Make an Athletics roll against the Attack Roll of one melee attack. On a Success you dodge the attack, landing 5 feet behind where you were, and may take a shot at the attacker.

Cathartic: On a Cathartic use your counterattack deals 3 Extra Wounds.

Nock of Countless Stars
Discipline: Waijia
Skill: Small Ranged against Evade
Type: Normal
Qi: 4

Your composite bow appears to sparkle from the glints of light cast off arrowheads as you nock and fire over and over again in rapid succession.

Roll Small Ranged against the Evade of up to 4 targets. On a Success they take Open Damage.

Cathartic: On a Cathartic use, subtract your Waijia from targets’ Evade when determining if you hit.

Stone Rending Talon
Discipline: Neigong
Skill: Small Ranged against Evade
Type: Normal
Qi: 5

You imbue your arrow tip with Qi energy, allowing it to burrow through solid terrain.

Roll Small Ranged against the Evade of one target separated from you by a single solid surface no thicker than 5 feet per Rank of Neigong. On a Success you do normal damage plus 2 Extra Wounds.

If you aren’t certain of someone’s location, you may need to make a Detect roll to target him.

Cathartic: Cathartically you do 4 Extra Wounds.

Opal Somersault
Discipline: Qinggong
Skill: Athletics against Attack Roll, then Small Ranged against Evade
Type: Counter
Qi: 6

You use the momentum from a melee attack to somersault up into the air, loosing a stray arrow from your composite bow as you do so.

Make an Athletics roll against the Attack Roll of one melee attack. On a Success you dodge the attack and may take a shot at anyone within your weapon range.

Cathartic: Cathartically you may use a composite bow Kung Fu Technique on anyone within your weapon range.

Telescopic Snipe
Skill: Small Ranged against Evade
Type: Normal
Qi: 7

You take careful aim, imbuing your composite bow with Qi energy to carry your arrow across wide plains.

For the purposes of this attack, your weapon range is 1200/2400/4800. Roll Small Ranged against the Evade of one target. On a Success, deal 10d10 damage.
